U.S. Coast Guard Commander's Circle
HICKORY, NC - Shuford Mills, producer and distributor of Outdura® products, is a Commander's Circle member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, an all-volunteer organization created by an act of Congress in 1939. The Auxiliary assists the U.S. Coast Guard in its vital missions of homeland security and maritime public safety and, except for armed combat and law enforcement, trained Auxiliary members carry out the same missions as the Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard Auxiliary receives no direct funding from the federal government, and volunteer members of the Auxiliary serve without compensation. In fact, the members themselves provide most of the required financial resources for maintaining the organizational structure and mission support of the Auxiliary, whose maritime public security and safety responsibilities expanded greatly after 9-11.
